If you want to travel this summer but don’t want to board your dog, you don’t have to: you can road trip WITH your pup! It’s not as hard as you may think. Here are a few tips for traveling with your pet on the road this summer.
First, stick to your dog’s diet. Perhaps your dog is allergic to grains or needs foods for dogs with skin allergies. You may follow a grain-free diet for dogs so your pup doesn’t experience allergy attacks. If this is the case, don’t switch their food when you travel.
Be sure they eat the same food at the same time every day so their stomach doesn’t bother them and they don’t have allergies.
Second, have a route planned out and stick to it. Research dog-friendly parks, rest stops, and food joints that you can stop at on your road trip. This will make your trip easier!
Third, contact your vet ahead of time. Be sure to let your vet know that you and your dog will be traveling. They may want to update your pup’s vaccinations so they are safe during your trip.
Finally, book dog-friendly travel accommodations. Make it easy on yourself and book hotels, Airbnbs, or other forms of lodging that are pet-friendly. This way, your trip will be a success!
Be sure to pack everything you need, including your pet food that follows a grain-free diet for dogs and your allergy diet for dogs! Pet nutrition is key while traveling, so don’t be afraid to pack a bit heavy!
